The AHEPPP Awards Committee plays a vital role in advancing our mission by overseeing the nomination, review, and celebration of the outstanding work of our members and institutions. Whether you're excited to lead the process or eager to contribute behind the scenes, we invite you to apply or nominate a peer to be part of the team.  2026 Awards Committee Chair

Reports to: AHEPPP Board of Directors and designated AHEPPP staff
Term: October 2025 – December 2026
Time Commitment: 2–5 hours per week
Applications Open: Friday, August 1, 2025
Applications Due: Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET

Role Summary

As Chair, you'll lead a team of 4–6 volunteers to ensure the Family Engagement in Higher Education Awards reflect the excellence and values of AHEPPP. You'll collaborate with the Board and AHEPPP staff, support committee members, and coordinate all aspects of the awards process.

Role Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for the Awards Committee leadership team
  • Schedule and host Awards Committee meetings
  • Attend the 2025 National Conference in Orlando, FL to observe the awards process and prepare for the 2026 program
  • Collaborate with the Communications Chair to develop a promotions and recognition plan
  • Develop and manage a timeline for nominations, selection, and announcements
  • Oversee nomination collection, review, and recipient selection processes
  • Liaise with the 2026 Conference Planning Committee to coordinate award presentations
  • Provide guidance and support to Awards Committee members throughout the year

Qualifications

  • Current AHEPPP member with 3+ years of experience engaging families at the collegiate level (any campus department is eligible)
  • Strong organizational, assessment, and marketing skills
  • Strong relationship-builder who communicates clearly and works well in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Able to attend both the 2025 and 2026 National Conferences
  • Previous experience with the AHEPPP Awards Committee or similar recognition programs preferred

What You’ll Do

Awards Committee members support the annual awards process from nomination to recognition. You’ll work collaboratively to recruit nominations, review applications, select recipients, and coordinate award presentations at the 2026 National Conference.

  • Help recruit and coordinate award reviewers
  • Participate in the review and selection of recipients
  • Assist with award notifications and recognition efforts
  • Collaborate with the Conference Planning Committee to implement award presentations

Qualifications

  • Current AHEPPP member with at least 2 years of experience engaging with parents and families at the collegiate level (any office or department is eligible)
  • Strong organizational, assessment, and communication skills
  • Dependable, collaborative, and responsive
  • Available to attend the 2026 National Conference
