Leadership Position: 2024 Spring Summits Planning Committee Chair

Reports to: AHEPPP Board of Directors and Executive Director

Length of Term: November 2023 - May 2024

Time commitment: 2-4 hours per week, varies

Position Description: The Spring Summit Chair provides leadership and strategic direction for the two annual virtual Spring Summits. Leading a team of volunteers, the Chair ensures the success of the Spring Summits from start to finish by maintaining that all aspects of the event align with AHEPPP's mission, vision, and values as the premier association for family engagement at the collegiate level. 

Application Materials:

  • Applicants must submit a current resume/vitae.
  • Applicants must submit a short-answer reply to the following prompt: Please write a brief statement describing why you would like to serve as 2024 Family Engagement in Higher Education Spring Summit Committee Chair. Outline the skills and experience you have that will contribute to leading the planning committee. Also, please share specific ideas or suggestions you have for the 2024 summits. Limit to 500 words.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the primary role on the Spring Summits committee leadership team that includes the AHEPPP Executive Director and reports directly to the AHEPPP Board of Directors
  • Partner with the Executive Director to establish the summit’s topics, concepts, and design, including the technical, operational, and digital footprint for the summits. 
  • Oversee the administrative and logistical management of the summits
  • Actively support committee members for maximized engagement and participation
  • Serve as the Master of Ceremonies for both Spring Summits and assist with technology management
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop a communications plan and develop materials as needed
  • Prepare and submit a conference final report (executive summary) as directed to document decisions, activities, results of new programs, and recommendations of importance to the incoming committee, 2025 Chair, and the Board of Directors

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current member of the association with at least 3 years of experience in Parent/Family Engagement
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Relational, collaborative, and responsive 
  • Ability to meet regularly with Planning Team members
  • Ability to attend the two Spring Summits
