2014 AHEPPP National Conference

Join us in sunny San Diego for the AHEPPP National Conference on November 10 - 12 as we grow, support, and celebrate our work, our profession, and ourselves. The conference venue, The Dana on Mission Bay, provides a wonderful backdrop for our time together to explore best practices in our work with parents and families; discuss current challenges; share our successes; fellowship with friends and colleagues; and rejuvenate.  From the conference kick-off at the world-famous San Diego Zoo to innovative educational sessions and programs, the AHEPPP National Conference will inform and inspire you to better serve your campus community. Pre-Conference Workshop for Professionals New to Parent Programs

Whether creating a program from the ground up or starting in a new position with an established parent/family programs office, this highly interactive session will help participants explore fundamental and critical issues, and establish a strong foundation for their work. This special pre-conference workshop will provide opportunities to engage and interact with colleagues, learn together, and enjoy a mentoring lunch with seasoned professionals. Participants will also receive a complimentary copy of the Parent and Family Programs CAS Standards and Guidelines. Pre-conference workshop will take place on Monday, November 10 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Fee is listed below and includes continental breakfast and lunch. Cancellation Policy

All cancellations for the 2014 conference must be received in writing on or before the date and time below.

On or before October 20, 2014, 5pm MST: Full refund
On or before October 31st, 2014, 12am MST: Refund, minus $150 late cancellation fee.
On or after November 1, 2014, 5pm MST: No refunds will be issued.

Absolutely no refunds will be made to individuals canceling within 24 hours of the conference start date (November 10, 2014). Conference organizers cannot accept refund requests that result from cancelled flights and/or natural disasters. The pre-conference fees are nonrefundable.

Hotel and Conference Locationalt

We've reserved a limited block of rooms and we encourage you to make your hotel reservation as soon as possible to ensure the group rate of $129/ night. Once our block of rooms is full, we cannot guarantee this rate. The Dana on Mission Bay is the location for this year's National Conference. Call for Programs - CLOSED

The program committee invites faculty, professional staff, and graduate students from all academic disciplines and departments to consider presenting a program at AHEPPP’s 2014 national conference. Program proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, June 27, 2014.

Criteria for Selection:New for 2014! PechaKucha and AHEPPP Talks short format presentations

  • Topic of presentation must be related to serving the parents and family members of students in higher education and/or the student experience in higher education and its implications for serving students’ families.
  • Special consideration will be given to proposals that support the conference theme, “Grow, Support and Celebrate’ which focuses on best practices, meaningful research, and innovative programming for families and the impact on student success.
  • Topics should reflect the mission of AHEPPP, which works to help colleges and universities throughout the world constructively involve parents and families in the higher education experience and promote those interested in helping accomplish this mission.
  • Proposals involving multiple institutions and plan meaningful, thoughtful program collaborations are strongly recommended.
  • Innovative formats are encouraged, including those modeled on PechaKucha or TED Talks.
  • All presenters must register for the conference. 

Call for Programs Process:

  • Download the Program Proposal Form.
  • Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, June 27, 2014. Presenters are encouraged to submit proposals before the deadline. Early proposals will receive priority consideration and notification will be issued on a rolling basis.
  • Presenters will be notified about the status of their proposal by the end of June 2014.
  • Proposals must be submitted electronically (by email). Please complete the Program Proposal Form and email your submission to the board members listed below.
